Get to Know Janet Belardo

Director of Children’s Ministry

Janet Belardo joins us as the Director of Children’s Ministry here at Wellspring church. As part of a team, She am responsible for implementing the chosen curriculum for the various learning communities Infants and Toddlers; Preschool; K-2nd grades, and 3rd & 4th grades. As a team, they ensure that the children and volunteers are supported in learning the importance of prayer; the need to read and understand God’s Word, and how to apply God’s Kingdom Principles to our lives and fellowship with others.

Tell us a bit about yourself!

I was born and raised on the Monterey Peninsula. My Father was in the Army so I was able to travel and learn about different communities and cultures. My Mother and Father felt my faith formation was an important part of my upbringing. So I was raised with the tenets that our church is focused on. Since my parents had a strong faith I felt that a personal relationship with the Trinity was important. I have been blessed to work as a public school teacher with MPUSD and learned the importance of ministering to the whole child and working closely with the families to instill that each child is a life-long learner and a good citizen.

What inspired you to join the team at Wellspring?

I joined Wellspring after hearing the story of “giving the tractor keys”. I was first and currently a member of the Finishing Well group. In that group of wise men and women I learned the importance of studying God’s Word in Community. Through that fellowship I got involved in the Welcome Team, washing dishes, and finally teaching Preschool Children. In my 3rd year of teaching, the Lord opened this opportunity to be the Director.

What was your first experience with ministry like?

My first experience of ministry was teaching Catechism in the Catholic Church. I enjoyed teaching First Communion and Confirmation at St. Jude’s in Marina. Then I became a Sunday School Teacher at my next church. I enjoyed teaching. I was also involved in the ministries of Eucharist, Reading of the Word, Choir, and prayers. My experience in ministry has been hands-on and very creative.

What are some things you are excited to do in your position here?

As part of the Children’s Ministry, I am excited to ensure creative ways for the children and volunteers to learn about God’s ways. I am hoping the students will have opportunities to learn about the various ways to express their love for God through singing; writing; art; and worship with their hands, drama, and special events like the Christmas Pageant or Easter Celebration.

What fills your cup outside of work, school, and church?

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love to pray and encourage others. I am involved in some service organizations that promote helping others, reading, building mental health awareness, and healing. I love to travel, go to the movies, trivia (sports, TV, world events), and root for the Giants! GO GIANTS!
